Prayer Profile: Approximately 10% of the Arab population in the Middle East has historical roots in the ancient Christian faith. High walls of religions prejudice, plus centuries of enmity, separate these people from the Muslim majority. Almost all evangelical believers were converted from this nominal Christian background, and likewise find it extremely difficult to bridge the barriers to their Muslim neighbors. Nonetheless, Muslims, who are hearing the gospel by TV, radio and other means, are coming to faith and are seeking out evangelical churches to learn more of Jesus. The problems related to integrating Muslim converts into Christian churches among those with a Muslim heritage is becoming more and more prevalent, yet the challenge to do so amid severe persecution also makes this homogenous approach difficult. Pray that God will provide a way to release believers from Islam to come into a supportive Christian community where their faith can be nourished. Until such time that converts from Islam can be formed into churches, they remain an unreached pepole group of over 360 million people. |
